Dear Gatewood, Have just read in the morning paper of the great sorrow that has come to you. My heart goes out to you, your mother and sisters in your grief. Your "Daddy" must have been a really, truly companion to you as well as a devoted parent. You spoke of him so often and then, too, I remember the composition you wrote on "My Daddy." are the fond memories you will ever cherish of the loved one who is gone from you. I feel sure you are bearing bravely the greatest sorrow that has ever come into your life. While you are rather young to feel the real loss, you have all in life before you and by making the most of your opportunities can grow up to be everything to your Mother and sisters and in this way try to take your dear Daddy's place in the home. May you grow to be like him.
