1 Register of Free Negroes and Mulattoes Surry No. 1. Richard Debereaux (son of David Debereaux a free Mulatto man) a resident of this county is of yellowish complexion, straight made, about five fee ten inches high, aged about twenty seven years was born free of Free parents - Registered and numbered "one" this twenty eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and three, pursuant to an act of the General Assembly of Virginia, entitled "an act more effecually to prevent the practice of Negroes going at large" passed January the 25th 1803. Teste, John Faulcon: C.S.C.

No. 2 Isham Stephens (son of Lucy Stephens a Free woman of this county) is aged twenty one years the twenty fourth day of December next ensuing, [struck: is] of a bright complexion, stout made five feet two inches high - Registered and numbered "two" this twenty ninth day of June one thousand eight hundred and three, pursuant to an act of the General Assembly entitled "an act more effectually to prevent the practice of Negroes going at large" passed January 1803. Teste, John Faulcon: C. S. C.

No. 3 David Garns (son of Jenny Garns a free mulatto woman) a resident of this county is of a yellowish complexion, five feet three inches high, square and pretty stout made aged about twenty six years and by profession a waterman - Registered and numbered "three" this twenty ninth day of June one thousand eight hundred and three, pursuant to an act of the General Assembly of Virginia, entitled "An act more effectually to prevent the practice of Negroes going at large" passed January 1803.
