115 the county court of Surry in the state of Virginia, do hereby
certify that Charles alias Charles Q Wooton a free negro of
bright complexion, aged nineteen years and upwards has
a scar [struck: and] below the calf of his left leg, has strait hair
five feet seven and three quarter inches high, was born free
in the county of Surry as appears by the certificate of Robert
W Faison a white man now on file in my office, and
that he is registered of the above description in the Clerks
Office of Surry County Court by order of said court this day
made. Given under my hand and seal of said court this

hereby certify that Nancy alias Nancy Ellett, a free negro
of brown complexion aged forty two years and upwards
has no snarks [marks] or scars five feet, one and a half inches
high was born free in the county of Surry as appears by the
certificate of Susanna Frazier a white woman now
on file in my office, and that she is registered of the
above description in the Clerks Office of Surry County court
by order of said Court this day made. Given under
my hand and seal of said court this 25th day of

James Cornwall, (a free negro) of dark complextion aged
sixty four years and upwards, has lost a part of his left
ear, has also lost the middle toe on his right foot, five
feet, nine and a half inches high was born free in the
county of Surry, as appears by a former certificate obtained from
the Clerk of this court, and now surrendered and that
he is again registered of the above description in the
Clerks Office of Surry County Court by order of said Court
this day made. Given under my hand and seal
of said court this 25th day of October 1852
