This Indenture, made the fifteenth day of
February in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventeen
between Alexander Brown
of the Town of Petersburg, of the
ONE PART; and Thos. [Thomas] Jones, a free man of colour, of the county of Amelia,
of the other part, WITNESSETH, That the said Alexander Brown
for and in consideration
of the sum of TEN dollars, of lawful money of this Commonwealth to him in hand paid by the
said Thomas Jones at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these PRESENTS, (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) HAVE bargained, and sold, and by
these presents, DO bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Jones
his Heirs and Assigns, a certain tract of parcel of land, situate, lying
and being in the county of Amelia, containing seventy
eight and one half acres, more or less, and bounded as follows,
to wit: beginning at the north and adjoining the lands
of the late Allan Johnson, dec. and bounded on the west
by the land of Robert Jones dec. on the south by the
lands of Thomas [illegible?], and on the east by the
lands of the aforementioned Robert Jones, to

and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, and all the rents, issues, and profits thereof,
