This indenture, made this [blank] day of 1821, between Henry Edmundson of the County of Montgomery of the first part, and William Munford of the City of Richmond, of the second part, witnesseth tha the said Edmundson for & in consideration of his natural love and affection for his daughter Ellen E. Blair, wife of Walter D. Blair of the said city and also for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Munford, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, both given, granted and confirmed, and by these presents doth give grant and confirm , unto the said Munford a negro man slave called & known by the name of Moses, with all the rights title and interest of the said Edmundson, in and to the said slave, into the said Munford, his Executors and Administrators, to the only proper use & behoof of the said Munford, his executors and Administrators, and the said Edmundson

for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators doth hereby warrant and forever defend the said slave unto the said Munford, his Executors & Administrators in trust however and the true intent and meaning of this indenture is, that the said Munford, shall hold the said slave for the sole and exclusive benefit of the said Ellen E. Blair her heirs and assigns forever, with power and authority to sell the said slave, whenever thereto required by the said Ellen E. in writing, under her hand, and the proceeds to be paid to herself if she request it; or invested in other property to be held in like manner, as the said negro in trust for her [separate?] benefit if she should deem it expedient so to have the same invested and the said slave or property in which the proceeds shall be invested as aforesaid, shall in no case be considered under the control and authority or liable in any manner to satisfy the debts of and demands upon the said Walter D. Blair unless, the said Ellen E. shall die in the life time of the said Walter D. with out leaving a child living at the time of her

And, the said Mumford, doth hereby covenant with the said Edmundson, to do and perform faithfully the trust reposed in him .In testimony whereof the said parties to these presents, have hereunto, set their hands, and affixed their seals, the day and year first above written.
