Executors and assigns forever, and the said
John H. Montague for himself his heirs,
Executors and administrators, doth Covenant
with the said John L. James and Alex K. Parker,
their heirs and assigns, that the said John H.
Montague will, and his heirs Executors and
administrators shall, warrant and defend
the tittle of the said slaves to the said John L.
James and Alex K. Parker forever against
the lawful claims and demands of all and
every person or persons whatsoever
upon special Trust nevertheless that the
said John L. James and Alex K. Parker shall
permit the said John H. Montague [illegible]
in quiet and peaceable possession of the
said slaves, and to take the profits arising
from their labor or hire to himself to his own
use, until defaults [illegible] in the payment
of one or both of the before mentioned
negotiable notes - he the said John H. Montague
hereby binding and pledging himself that
all the said slaves, or so many of them as
may live so long, shall be kept in the said
City of Richmond until this [illegible] fully
satisfied and the said negotiable notes paid off
[of] whomever default he made in the payment
of either or both of the said negotiable
notes, [illegible] the duty of the said John L. James
and Alex K. Parker or either of them, and the
survivor of either of them, when requested
so to do by the said [illegible] James [illegible] or the
survivor of them, or their assigns or executors
or administrators, ten days notice of the
time & place being previously given in some news paper
published in the City of Richmond - proceed
to sell at public auction, for ready money
