At a meeting of the Baptist Church
called Cumberland on Saturday the
25th day of May 1848. After divine
service, Elder Joseph Jenkins was
chosen moderator, & V C Ryals
acting as clk. The following
members were enrolled
John H Parker. Jesee D Parker
Isham Parker, Smith [Hudgins]
Albert [L] Dowdy, John D. Jenkins
Willis Dunkin, John Sanderson
miss Sarah Hubbard & V Ryals -
After Prayer being made [over] the usual enquiry as to the peace of the charge,
they proceeded to business the first claiming their attention,
was the payment of Pastoral duties
which upon examination, it was
ascertained had been down to the costs
of $49 16/100. leaving some portion
oof the subscription [unpaid]

Line 5 - not sure whether to say illegible or show the letter, I did the latter. Since Joseph Jenkins appears to have been a key person in that church per quick online search , maybe we should be can find elsewhere what that word/position is.

Names in general are a tough one , particularly the format for names. I see “Le.” In front of a few.names.
