City of Richmond, to wit:--The Jurors of the Commonwealth, for the body of the City of Richmond, on their oaths present that
John Marion
did on the fourth day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine at the said City of Richmond, and within the jurisdiction of the Court of hastings for the said City,
unlawfully have and receive of two slaves
the property of Garland Hanes one Bag
of corn of the goods and chattel of the
said Garland Hanes, before that time
unlawfully stolen taken and carried
away by the said slaves, the said
John Marion then and there well
knowing the said Bag of corn to have
been so unlawfully taken stolen
and carried away
against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth of Virginia
