summary-of-military-occupations: INFANTRY UNIT COMMANDER -- Served for many months as an Infantry Unit Command and Commander of a Rifle Company of the 353rd Infantry Regiment, a part of the 89th Infantry Division and later with the 328th Infantry Regiment, a part of the 26th Infantry Division attached to the United States Third Army in the European Theatre of Operations. Was responsible for the units administration, training and employment; directed supply, equipment, transportation and security activities; directed the tactical employment of the unit in combat, estimating situations and formulating decisions regarding action in a deployment. Supervised instruction of military personnel in basic and advanced Infantry subjects to incur technique, use and operation of infantry weapon and close combat fighting. Also directed and supervised mess housing, billeting special service functions and other general welfare activities of the unit. Served for several months as an Intelligence Staff Officer, evaluating and interpreting information. Served also for two months as the Provost Marshal for the Army University Center School, Venham, England.
