information-about-overseas-service: Arrived in England April, 1944 and to France on June12,1944 to serve as a replacement officerin the Cannon Co. 26th Infantry Regiment of the First Division. His job was the go forward with the attacking infantry, as forward observed, and call down on adjust enemy movements and positions he observed, Thus he was with the 1st Division through all the decisive fighting of the breakthrough in France, the advance to the German frontier, the reduction of Aachen, the breaching death. He was buried at Henri-Chapelle in the U.S. Military Cemetery, in Belgium.
citations-decorations-service-medals-etc: Combat Infantry Badge - Bronze Star for battle of Aachen, Germany - Oak Leaf Cluster for ricking his life to direct artillery fire at the enemy at Schl Laufenburg, Germany.
Have information from hie company overseas that he had also been recommended for a Silver Star( he wrote this too before his death) and possibly a cluster to that too. These will come through in time. Shall I let you Know? Had been given a citation by Gen. McNair

any-other-details-known: Had just set up his observation post, as forward observer, when enemy artillery fire came down upon the building. Was killed when shrapnel entered the lung and lower back. He already directed the fire of his guns. Lived for three hours.
