information-about-overseas-service: Sent to New Caledonia from the States early in 1944 where he trained for several months, took part in the invasion of Guam in July, 1944 with the First Provisional Brigade. Later was sent to Guadalcanal for rest and further training. There, was placed in the Sixth Marine Division, 22nd regiment in a demolition squad of which he was the leader. He was with the first invasion forces which landed on Okinawa April 1, 1945

any-other-details-known: Cpl. Adams, leader of a demolition squad had sent one of his men up to knock out a pill box. When his comrade was struck by enemy fire, Cpl. Adams felt it was his duty to go up and assist if possible. He was fatally wounded in the head and right arm. Death was instantaneous. He was buried in the Sixth Marine Cemetery, May 12, 1945
