Menus, Multilingual

In this collection there are menus from many different kinds of restaurants in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They vary in structure and layout. In this folder, we have included menus written in mixed scripts (English, Arabic, etc). Feel free to do the work you can! If you scroll down you will see document sets that identify those other scripts. In the file name, you will see the language(s), the level of difficulty of the transcription, and the name of the restaurant. The information we are interested in recording about the food on these menus is fourfold: the categories on the menus (main dishes, starters, add-ons, beverages, etc), the names of dishes on offer, the description of those dishes, and the price of each dish. We organize this information using the table encoding method in FromThePage. At the bottom of the transcription form for each page being transcribed, you will find a summary of our transcription conventions, including how to make the tables. In the footer you will find a link to Detailed Transcription Conventions. Consider helping us create the metadata about the restaurants as well.
