Dear Mr Stedman:

Thank you very much for sending me the pictures, they are certainly very fine work & all the authors represented must be grateful for such painstaking. Houghton Mifflin have published a book, of portraits of authors that are enough to turn the beholder to stone with horror & consternation. This is quite a different thing!
