Letter from Edwin Arlington Robinson to Esther Willard Bates

This is a scanned version of the original document in the Abernethy Manuscripts Collection at Middlebury College.

Dear Miss Bates

Thank you for your letter and for the Christmas compliment. Your brother is an able poet, and I am always glad to see anything that he does. - I fancy that the enclosed is the alcoholic stupidity to which your friend referred. Please accept my best wishes for the New Year.

Yours sincerely

E. A. Robinson

December 25, 1920

[vertically in right margin] For some reason or other the [script?] hasn't come but probably it will in a day or two. If it doesn't, perhaps I'll be generous enough to let you copy it again. But don't do so until you hear from me.
