Dear Miss Bates

Thank you for your letter and for the Christmas compliment. Your brother is an able poet, and I am always glad to see anything that he does. - I fancy that the enclosed is the alcoholic stupidity to which your friend referred. Please accept my best wishes for the New Year.

Yours sincerely

E. A. Robinson

December 25, 1920

[vertically in right margin] For some reason or other the [script?] hasn't come but probably it will in a day or two. If it doesn't, perhaps I'll be generous enough to let you copy it again. But don't do so until you hear from me.
