Dear Sir

It has occured to me that it
would be well enough to remind you
that General Grant did his full
justice in connection with the battle
of Monocacy, In his official re-
port of 1865, he states directly that
by the battle he was enabled to get
troops to Washington in time to save
that city from capture. In your ar-
ticle upon the subject you should not
omit noticing that part of General
G.'s report. This a substantial
acknowledgement that I saved the
city.
