Dear Eliza Nov 10. 1864
Your very welcome letter of Oct 31th is at Hand. it came some days ago but I have been so busy that I could not answer it[.] I have to guard one day and it [takes?] all the next to clean up and rest as it is very hard work. I was put in the Detachment the next day after I wrote you my last letter and have been doing guard duty every since. I stand it like heroe and am as contented as a clam. it is uncertain how long I shall stay here. you write as though I homesick but I was never more contented in my Life. I wish
