Sender of letter is Alexander Woollcott (1887-1943), American humorist and anthologist, participant of the Algonquin Round Table of the 1920s. He owned a summer home in Bomoseen, VT. Woollcott possibly was writing Hemingway to secure permission to reprint "Big Two Hearted River," which appeared in Woollcott's anthology "Woollcott's Second Reader" in 1937. Hemingway's copy of the anthology is in the living room bookcases at the Finca Vigia, his home in Cuba.
