work, I should very much like to have them, darling, both for myself to look at, & also to show to several people - who knows, we might come here for a good long holiday sometime, to be paid for by commissions which I will arrange for you now. As you know, the Jews are very much more artistically awake than the English - & they are far less self conscious about having their portraits done. If I could make you known to people out here by photographs, it might be possible to get commissions from people here to do portraits of people in England - for example, Edwin Samuel might like one of his father; or the Jewish agency, one of Dr Weizman.

What about the war news? We are very much on the verge of spring now, & I am waiting & hoping every day for something to happen which will indicate that at last we & America are starting to finish Germany off. Together with Russia of course. The combined [?] raids & our [?] are very good, but there is nothing decisive or final about them. Our calamities at the hands of Japan seem to have come to an end for the time being - let us hope altogether.

You asked me had I still my full confidence in Churchill - I think I have, you know. best & most useful thing he can do is to reetire - & write an honest & unreserved history of the war & pre war - sparing nobody. If he stays in Parliament, & as head of the Conservative party, he will be an embarrassment & a brake on progress. He will be a national here - & as such he should not be at the head of a politial party which so many people will want to attack & destroy. Tomorrow I march [Dikman?] in front of the Arab Commander - & after this, probably in front of the General. I will tell you all about the case when it is finished, instead of giving you a running commentary. But you might be wondering what is happening.

I do hope you get a good photograph of you & Marie - that you will send it by air mail. It will make me hellishly sad & homesick, but I want to have it. I still love the ones I have - & I am always looking at them, & thinking how lovely you are & how much I love & adore you. Oh what heaven when I come home, my darling - what pure & absolute heaven to see the real you again & hold you close in my arms & tell you how I love you.

Love & a big kiss to Marie - And deep & everlasting love to you My dearest sweetheart
