Darling Sweet Barbara,

It really is a bit thick. I know you must have written to me again, at least once - & yet I do not receive any letter. Apparently you wrote to the Chester Hospital, & I have a letter - & the pyjamas - from them already. And I wrote to several places in Liverpool about bills etc., towards the end of last week. & I have replies already. I must say that this sort of thing, if it was necessary, has the effect of making mr miss you even more, & worry & fret about you & generally be very sorry for myself & think about you all the time instead of a lot of the time. I do hope my letters are arriving a bit better.

Cole came over yesterday, & I had rather a late evening, getting to bed at 1-30. I had to be up again at 5-30, & have had a very busy day. I have just had an excellent hot bath, clean clothes from tip to toe, a

ncie whisky & soda - & so am now feeling much better.

I have to go have dinner now & will finish this afterwards - & go to an early bed. So - XXX - darling.

Wednesday.

I was too sleepy to continue last night - & so went to bed & had a good long night. This letter will still catch today's post.

I had another letter from you this morning, thank goodness, & thank you, darling. This one had been posted in London at 3-45 p.m. on July 17th - & today is the 24th - so it has taken 7-8 days.

I have just wired you to phone me at Warrenpoint 217 at 10-0 tonight. The reason for this proceedure is that there is far less delay from England to Ireland than vice versa. I do hope you will come through alright, as I want to implore you to come over here just

as soon as you possibly can. I am very unhappy without you darling - & you sound very unhappy without me, & having no place you really want to go to. Five wires have already arrived simply by getting a permit from the Passport Office in Liverpool - you will need to go to the Londone one - & though there was some slight delay, & a little difficulty, the permits were granted, & there was no restriction on length of stay. I now hear that it may become more difficult, so from that point of view, the sooner you come, the better.

I propose that you - and me, stay at a Hotel for a day or two, until you find some place you like. And you could bring your carving tools with you. As we are going on at the moment, we would be able to see a lot of each other.

I will try & send you a voucher today, but if you do not get this in time, go to the R.T.O. on the station,

& smile nicely & you should be able to get one there.

And I want you to go via Stranraer & Larne. This means a long & bloody train journey from London - but a short crossing.

I am going to stop now darling, & go to the P.O. & see if I can express this letter. And if ever you want to phone me, send a wire saying the time you will be on at the above number.

Every bit of my love sweet.
