Dear Rachel It is but a moment that I have to write I would say that we are all well as usual we arrived home well after parting with thee - we called upon Clara and Vienna found them well as usual we have since heard that Vienna had taken a school in Washington for this fall I shall have to be brief for as I said I have but a moment to write - We have just been picking out a Barrel of Apples to send thee and Isaac says he must carry them to the Depot to Day for fear that it will freeze to night - we had to pick them from some that was Decaying and it has rather wet and Dirtied them which I am rather mortified about but I have no time to wipe and clean them as Isaac is in a hurry to carry them Down to the Depot

they are not so nice apples as I wish I had to send but they are some of the best we have this year for our best trees did not bare and also some of our best are our earliest so them are gone - you had better as soon as you get them trim them out of the Barrel for they rot very fast

thee must excuse me for sending thee so small a present for I thought of thee after I got home and had apples to use and eat how thou had none and I could not feel to relish them so well when I thought [deleted]that thee[/deleted] of it - - I want to hear from thee and all of thy family please write me a line when thee gets the Apples and let me know if they come safe they will be left at the Depot Montpelier. I Do not know whether they will go up to Day or not I hope they will not freeze

Didst thou go to Quarterly meeting I would been very glad to have been there but it was so that I could not go - how is Paulina I think often of her she must be very lonely - and how are all thy absent Children as well as those at home - so I must close with much love to you all in haste Dianna M
