Dear mother,

Thomas that I had better write, as he had nothing to say, only that they were getting along first rate and that thee can go to R. I. for as they are concerned - He got Elsie 4th. day morning. I found Maria quite smart - [underline]rode out to supper[/underline] in her rocking chair. Have heard from uncle T. twice - once last night - is no worse - remains just about so. Bancroft's daughter is no better. Isaac went on to Washington - expect him back tomorrow - They have had a letter from some one saying H. had the best of care - a woman nurse died with acute diarhea - Funeral is to be at E. village
