Dear Cousin

Thy letter of the third came direct.
I could hardly think it had been so long when
I looked at the date. We wer much obliged
for thy kindness in informing us of your
sad intelligence. it was sad to us all to
here of Williams death. we hoped he would
have been restored to you & us. we can't
feel as you feel but we can simpathise
with you in your sorrow. my Sister
Mary was here at the time. she has a son
in the army (or nurse in Hospital) his
time is nearly out. she to could feelingly
drop the tear of simpathy. we would like
to know whether you have received the
parsel & whether the letter was written
after he was wonded. Ann is probaby
with you now. we should be glad to see
her here. perhaps she will go with thee
to the Quarterly Meeting if thy health
