Status: Needs Review

I have not heard from
Henry since I wrote thee,
last. I do not get to Wash-
ington yet, to see him.
Our Mess has just got a
going to-day. The Chest
came containing Stove,
Kettles, and complete cook-
ing utensils for a family
of eight, and the whole
packs in a box not much
larger than the last one
you sent me Stove Pipe
and all. Four of us mess
together and baked po-
tatoes and warm biscuit
and butter go first rate.
There is some prepar-
ing for a move, going
on most every day, but
I do not think we shall
go this week, though we
may have such orders

at any time. Does it
seem as if March was
most gone? Suppose
your are making Sugar
some, but do not know
about it. I have been
eating some this evening
which has just come
from Montpelier, to the
Lieutenant, Hatch, by name.

He is a Son-in-law of
A. D. H. Caldwell and a
Cousin of Mary True.

He is now in bed at my
elbow and as it is late
I must join him.

Excuse haste. Write soon.

Ever as ever
