28th Swim in the morning & to Linley again in the afternoon 29th Went swimming in the morning. Saw cricket match at Lidget Green in the afternoon. Went into Bradford had a look round with Mrs B. Caught several "Little bits of fluff" Had to walk from Whyke to Brighouse. Put in a jolly good day. 30th Left Brighouse 12-15 train Landed in London 7-15. Stopped at Waterloo Y.M.C.A. 1st Went to the United Services Museum in Whitehall Very interesting place. Had a look at Madame Tussauds Wax Works in the afternoon. Met Charlie [Holbeg?] and went to see, "Going Up". at the Gaiety. 2nd Met McCulley & Charlie & went round Covent Garden & Lester Square. Had lunch at Aldwich, and had a glance

through the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, went down 'The Mall' to Buckingham Palace. Picked up a guide at a V.M. and went through the Tower of London. Went to the "Alhambra" in the evening to see "The Bing Boys on Broadway". 3rd Strolled the streets, and bought a V.P. Kodak in The Strand. Went to see "Fair & Warmer" in the night. 4th Nothing much doing Went to the Aldwych Hut in the afternoon. Caught train at 6p. & arrived in Camp about 9-30 p. and it was very hard to take after 14 days of freedom. 5th Warned for draft for Sutton Veney. Got 10 Aussie letters & a parcel. 6th Mucking about changing camp Got to Sutton in the afternoon 7th Sunday. Church Parade

and knocked about YMCA all the afternoon. Service in the evening. 8th Classified B1A2. Doing a few Physical Jerks. 9th Major Gen. McKie presented medals in the morning. Still mucking about. 10th On isolation guard. It is a good stint. 11th morning off. Went to Warminister to get V.P.K. film devel -oped & printed. 12th Payday 13th Canteen fatigue, went to Codford in the afternoon, and saw Mrs Stacey Things are just the same there. 16th Marked A3. today. 18th Left [no.6?] Command, & went to O.T.B. Went to Warminister in the night. 19th Got the photos at Warminister 20th Saturday, In Warminister again. 21st Guard, 23rd Guard, 25th L.G. instruction & Pay. 27th Went to Warminister with [Patts?] & fell into a

creek coming home. 29th Guard & Strike 31st Met Vic Dally again. 1st L.G. instruction 2nd August. 12months today since I left home. 5th Guard. 8th Pay. 10th Walked to Codford with Wolfe &Dally Stopped all night, came back in the morning. 11th Went to Longleat Park & lake. 13th Inspec -ted by Gen, Sir Francis Howard 14th Went for a swim to Longleat "Buckshee" Pictures in the afternoon. Left O.T.B. about 7.30 Dally & Wolfe came down part of the way. Left Warminister about 10.15 p.m. Arrived at Folkestone early in the morning . Sailed about 12 noon. Arrived Bologne & went to a rest camp. All the Aussies broke bounds in the evening & went to the Rue de St Paul. 16th Left Bologne & came down to the base at Havre

17th More gas. 18 Left Havre & went down down to Div. wing at St Leger. 20th marched to Vignacourt & got on the Light Railway & went to Dahors. March to the Div. rest camp. 21 Left camp & marched through Sailly-Le-Sec. The village is blown to pieces. We had dinner by the river & then a swim to cool us off. It is beautiful weather, a bit hot, but there are plenty of creeks etc, to swim in behind the line. Reached the Btn Horse Lines & heard that the Btn is to hop over in the morning. a pleasant welcome back. Later we went back to Corbie. 22nd I have been down in the lake all day swimming, it is just the weather to lie in the water. 23 Swimming again, got
