Can someone assist with the two last names of the individuals that submitted the Garden report? Thank you

Thom Burns

Thanks so much for your work. These were difficult and I had to compare them to a list of trustees.

The report was quite entertaining to transcribe. Have you considered creating an index of names in the transcription process?

Thom Burns

We definitely have! We are working on how to best do it with From the Page. Since we are a cemetery with generations of family's with the same names it gets complicated and confusing quickly. We will let you know, once we have finalized things.

Great, I think it will be a powerful resource for this collection.

Another tip is you can always search our online collections database by name https://mountauburn.pastperfectonline.com/advancedsearch You can search your best guess by LastName, FirstName, and see if it matches any of the records online. The other option is if the person is buried at Mount Auburn then they will be recorded in our Burial Search database https://www.remembermyjourney.com/Search/Cemetery/325/Map You by no means need to go this far when trying to figure out a name, I just wanted to let you know about our other resources in case you wanted to delve deeper into our resources.

Yes, thank you, I have found those links useful. Another resource I turn to the digital newspaper collection at the Library of Congress (https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/). By searching Massachusetts papers from the period, I tracked down a few names.

Thank you for these helpful tips. The two names are Elijah Vose (trustee, 1834-1835) and Joseph P. Bradlee (trustee, 1833-1837). This is a great document!
