Com^ee on Grounds report on Subject of Greenhouse, care of lots, &c.

The President as Chairman of the Committee
on Grounds submitted a written report upon the subject
contained in the Superintendent's report referred to
them at the last meeting, which is as follows: _

"The Committee on Grounds report _ That the great
and increasing number of lots in Mount Auburn
which are annually sold, surveyed and graded, and
especially of those which after being made are to be pre-
served in repair, _ also the many miles of paths and
avenues which are to be kept in order, and the nu-
merous applications from individual proprietors for various
services, constitute collectively a duty too great to be well
and advantageously performed by one individual.

They believe that it would conduce to the benefit
of the Corporation and the convenience of proprietors,
if a new subordinate officer should be appointed, with the
title of Gardener, who shall have charge of the repair
of lots of proprietors, and the sale and planting of
shrubs, flowers &c. They therefore recommend that a
gardener be appointed whose duties and tenor of
office shall be defined by the adoption of the following
bye-law."
