Mr Cheever asked and obtained leave
of absence to attend the Senate Board, as
business of importance demanded his pres-
ence there _ but wished it to be understood
that he was in favor of a full and impar-
tial investigation.

Supt to make contracts only with knowledge & approval of Comee on Lots.

The vote was then taken upon the main
question, of the second motion, which as
amended, reads _ "that from and after
this date he be instructed not to
receive or pay any moneys for account
of the Corporation, and also that he
shall make no contracts without the
knowledge and approval of the Committee
on Lots, until the further order of this
Board". _ Upon this also the yeas & nays were
ordered, and the same was unanimusly
adopted.

The Committee asked leave to withdraw
the last motion, which was unanimously consented
to, and another was substituted, which
after discussion and modification was
finally unanimously adopted in form fol-
lowing:

Comee on Supts accts. authorized to employ temporarily person [to] receive and pay moneys, and a Gate Keeper _

"That the Committee chosen to investigate
the accounts of the superintendent, be
authorized to appoint temporarily a
clerk or clerks, to receive and disburse
