Pecuniary condn of Corporation, etc. Report of Com. on Finance

On motion of Mr Turner the Report of the
Committee on Finance in reference to the pecuniary condition
and prospects of the Corporation, submitted at the last,
and postponed to the present session of the Board was
taken up, and after consideration it was

Voted, – that the Report be accepted, and the recommen-
dations thereof be adopted – [See record of Report at page 367.]

Taxation of certain personal property. Proposal to test validity of.

A communication from Geo. T. Bigelow and others,
in behalf of certain Charitable, Benevolent & Literary Societies
desirous of testing the validity of the assessment of taxes on
stock in National Banks held by such Institutions, inviting
the cooperation of this Corporation in their proceedings,
having been submitted to the Board, it was

Voted, – that the subject be referred to the Committee on
Finance, with full powers.

Increased exempn from taxation of personal Estate of Corpn. Legislation to be petitioned to allow.

On motion of Mr Choate it was

Voted, – that the President be authorized and requested
to petition the Legislature of the Commonwealth at its next
session that the amount of the Personal Estate of this corpo-
ration exempted from taxation may be increased from
Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to Two hundred thousand
dollars ($200,000.)

The Secretary having stated that the Committee on
Lots has recommended the Trustees to guaranty the perpetual
repair of Lot No 1760 on Acanthus Path belonging to Mrs
Thomas M. Cutter
for Four hundred dollars; of Lot No
