Voted, – that the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount
Auburn hereby express to the venerable and honored Dr.
Jacob Bigelow
their most grateful appreciation of his
good will and munificence in the Gift to the Cemetery
of the Monumental Sphinx; which, as prompted and
bestowed by his liberality, and illustrated and inscribed
by his classic pen, is an Evidence alike of his private
virtues and of his patriotism.

Jacob Bigelow, M.D. Resolutions of thanks to adopted.

Voted, – that this generous deed by our Benefactor is
regarded by us as a most fitting crown to all the valuable
services which Dr. Bigelow has rendered to the Cemetery, as chief
among those who originated and planned it, as for so many
years the President of its Trustees, and as always the wise
and faithful guardian of its interests.

The above votes were unanimously adopted, each
proprietor rising.

No other business being presented, it was

Voted, – that this meeting be dissolved.
