This beautiful work of art has been formally transferred to
the Corporation, and the Trustees have caused the following
inscription to be placed thereon:—

JACOB BIGELOW STATUIT ET DEDICAVIT.

Detailed accounts of the transactions of the Corporation will
be found in the accompanying reports of the Superintendent
and Treasurer.

The Permanent Fund for the future care and embellish-
ment of the Cemetery, has been increased by the deposit of
$6,272.59, and with accrued interest now amounts to
$143,882.34.

The Repair Fund has received during the year for new
endowments $11,300, and now amounts to $90,478.41.

In addition to these Funds the Corporation has available
assets estimated at $31,555.86, exclusive of real estate
outside of the Cemetery.

At the last Annual Meeting the Trustees were instructed
to procure a suitable testimonial as a token of appreciation
of the long continued and faithful services of Dr. Bigelow as
President and Trustee. After consulation, it was decided
that the most desirable method by which the Board could
execute the wishes of the Proprietors, was to cause a marble
bust
of their distinguished colleague to be placed in the
Chapel at Mount Auburn. This plan was found to be highly
acceptable to Dr. Bigelow, and the celebrated sculptor, Mr.
Henry Dexter
was intrusted with the execution of the work.
His labors have been successfully completed, and the bust
placed upon a bracket prepared for its reception in the Chapel.

Some weeks since Dr. Bigelow transmitted to the Board a
communication as follows:—
