To the gentlemen, trustees of the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Dear Sirs,
with the close of the present
month will terminate nine years, since I commenced the duties
of Superintendent.
Taking into consideration the growing duties, and responsibilities
of the situation, the compensation given, the accomodations
provided for accomplishing the duties formely pointed
out: I feel it a duty, (should it be my fortune to render
further service) to say, that it will be neccessary to have a
new understanding between us.
Respectfully yours Servant
Rufus Howe Supt
