Dear Sir,-

The Trustees of
Mount Auburn today chose
James Derby, Jr. as Gatekeeper
for the remainder of Mr. Safford's
year---upon a salary of
four hundred dollars.

It was also voted,
"[?] the additional sum of 75 dlr
per week be paid him to enable
him to compensate a substitute
whom he shall procure to
him from his duties as Gatekeep
one half of every Sabbath. Said
substitute must (in the judgment of
the Committee on Interments and
the Superindent) be as [?]
and competent as Mr. Derby.

The Trustees also adopted the
recommendation of the Special
Comee upon Mr. Spooner's com-
munication-in terms-
to accede to Mr. Spooner's
his relinquishment of the office
of Gardener, and that the Trea-
urer be authorized to cancel
the lease with Mr. Spooner, upon
a full settlement of all amounts
due the Corporation from Mr.
Spooner
, and a surrender by
him in good order of the
leased premises:-

that the office of Gardener
be abolished, and that the
care and superintendence of
lots be committed to the Super-
intendent in such manner
and under such directions as
the Trustees shall prescribe.

The carrying out the above orders
was committed to Messrs Andrews,
Rand & Cheever (the old Comee)
with power to make such purchases
and arragements as may be nec-
essary in the premises.
