Gentlemen,

The Trustees of Mount Auburn
Cemetery at their last meeting, , upon motion
by Mr Nazro, adopted the following vote:

“That the expediency of increasing the compensation
of the Secretary be referred to a special committee of
three persons, and upon nomination by the Chair,
Messrs Nazro, Curtis and Cheever were so chosen.”-

As this vote appears to have reference to myself,
I know you will kindly receive a word or two in
addition to the official notice thereof.-

The duties of the Secretary have from year to year
been growing in importance to the Corporation and the indiv-
idual members, so that one may easily and laboriously
spend nearly the whole of this time to the advantage of the
Corporation. The duties directly entailed by the By-laws
give but a faint idea of the time and skill that is
called into service in faithfully carrying out what be-
comes necessary for one filling the place of Secretary.
Information in relation to purchase, to work, to the manage-
ment of things by the Corporation, the ever active necessity of
