B.F. Atkins Esq.

Dear Sir,

I regretted to hear
yesterday from C.C. Little Esq. that you
had for years felt aggrieved with me
on the ground (as you supposed) that
after having been paid by you the usual fee
for filing your affidavit as sole heir at law
of Benj. Atkins to lot No. 62 in Mt Auburn,
I had neglected to record you title or
make the same appear.

I do not learn that you ever
called upon or inquired of me whether
I had done my duty in the matter, but
by some means had come to the
conclusion that I had omitted
to do it. I must therefore infer that
you arrived at this conclusion
by forgetting the date when
you made your affidavit
and examining some edition of
the catalogue antedating your
affidavit.

The facts I find from record
are -

Affidavit of Benj. F. Atkins as sole
heir at law of Benj. Atkins filed
July 31. 1857 -

The only edition of the Catalogue
of Lots & Proprietors published since
that date was issued in June 1860.
That edition contains your name
printed as such sole heir both
in the numerical & alphabetical
part of the catalogue.

The previous edition, if you
will examine, was printed as early
May 1, 1857, and was distributed
among the proprietors in June of that
year, at least a month before your affidavit.

I am Very Respy, your Obt Servt

Austin J. Coolidge

P.S. I mailed between 1700 & 1800 of the Catalogue of 1860 to Boston Proprietors, & find your
name checked as one to whom a copy was sent.--
