Capt. D.L. Winsor, Supt

Sir,

The Trustees of Mount Auburn
recently voted that A. Wentworth & Co. of Boston,
marble workers, should have a license, until revoked
by the Trustees, to send their men and teams into
the Cemetery for work on lots, without obtaining the
obligation of the proprietor of each lot upon which
the work was to be done, to be responsible for them,
upon their giving a satisfactory obligation to be so res-
ponsible themselves.

A bond for that purpose has been executed
by them and [lodged?] in my hands. They are there-
fore to be permitted hereafter to enter without the
usual permit.

One condition of the bond is that "they shall
cause the Superintendent to be informed of the work to be
done, in each case, and the name of the proprietor,
and the number of the lot upon which such work
is to be done, and shall well and truly abide by
all the regulations ^for admission to the Cemetery."

Respectfully yours

A. J. Coolidge
