Dear Sir,

Yours of 30th alt was recd this
morning. I am happy to hear from an old
acquaintance through the "Golden Gate."

I have enclosed four maps as you
as you requested " by Steamer," each of
which weighs 2 oz. subj. with weight of wrapper
to 4 cts newspaper postage, & so prepaid.

These maps have, I believe, always
gone safely so. The letter rate, if they
had been sealed, would have amounted
to 54 cts. If they do not come
safely, inform me, and I will try
it again. - Each^map is enclosed in a
long envelope with the lappet tucked
in over the map, directed as requested.
