Jona. Mann Esq

Dear Sir,

I find correctly
entered on the cash book $150.
recd from you for
a lot of 300 square feet.

As there is not likely to be another
rise of land for a long time, I hope
you will get your lot located,
as that is the only advantage which
can be derived from neglecting to do
so, while there is the disadvantage
of the best average land being taken.

I hope you are not laboring under
the error that one holding a certif-
icate like yours, can go in and
select where he chooses. The right
of choice was for some time ex-
pressed in the old certificates --
but it many years since the
practice was done away. --

I can show you the difference
between the receipt which you
hold, and that formerly given.

Of course you will receive this
as friendly advice. I have no objection
to your getting as good a lot as you
can, but there is now no advantage
to be derived, I think, from buying
unlocated land. --

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge
