This is the cheapest iron bridge which we could put up,
and I think as the repairs to the old one cost so much,
will prove cheapest in the end.

Respectfully
James W. Lovering
Supt

Geo H. Chickering Esq.

Dr Sir,

I examined your tomb
today & find that before we can put in
the catacombs we must remove the arch, so
that the work amounts to removing the
present tomb and putting in a new one.

We are not in the habit of procurring
marble or any kind of "finished stone" as
the By Laws of the Corporation do no per-
mit the Supt to do this.

I cannot therefore give you as reliable an
estimate, but I judge that the cost of
sixteen catacombs, with slate shelves &
marble fronts and an improved en-
trance would amount to at least $3000.

Very respectfully
J.W. Lovering Supt
