Dear Sir,

Your favor of 27^th
inst. to rec'd in reply would say, our
foreman has examined the slabs and
reports them not very dirty and estimates
the cost of cleaning them at about six
dollars ($6.00). We should like to clean
them if you desire it done; if however you
desire to employ somebody else it would
be perfectly proper to do so but it would
be necessary for the party to obtain a
permit from the Secretary.
