Dear Sir
I have looked up the
charge of $354 for brickwork on the Trinity
Church Lot. The work was all dimension work,
and required a considerable amount of care in
laying, also the irregular bricks placed to hold
the slate shelves added to the work. We ac-
tually paid out, I find by talking with Col.
Folsom then Supt; $155 for 30 days work of a
good brick layer hired in Boston, and the rates
for 19 days bricklaying by one of our own men, &
53 days labor tending the masons (which make up
the balance of the charge) are certainly at reason
able rates. I have the dates & the number of men working
each day if you want.
Respectfully
J.W. Lovering.
