Dear Sir

Mr. Mackintosh sends me
your bill & also a note in regard to it.

After looking at it carefully, I can find no
error. You gave me the order in May & it was
not executed correctly at first, but I had it
altered & supposed that you found it satisfactory.
In the bill you paid on May 15^th amounting to $96²⁵
I do not find this work included, that amount
being for work done for you under Col. Folsom's
supervision, which was completed in 1872.

Hoping this explanation will prove satisfactory.
