I.M. Spelman Esq
Prest.

I estimate the cost of building in the New Receiving
Tomb
, a section of fifty six (56) catacombs according to the plan
I have [seen?], in place of then now there; at $4350, which includes
all necessary excavations and the removal of the present sections, but
no grading & sodding.

The [walls?] are to be of hard brick on good foundation, all laid in
cement; the catacombs to have slate shelves, brick division [?]
faced with slate, and marble doors. The arch of large brick fitted with
face brick, and coated with asphalt. The tiles may be of slate and marble
or of light colors if desired.

The vestibule can be tiled & cleaned for $460.00 and the granite
arch taken off and relaid after repairing the arch & coating it with
asphalt, the front cleaned & painted for $550. Total on vestibule $1010.--

I have asked Treasrs Cook & Ryan to estimate on the cost of a
simple iron door.

The total cost besides the door for the new section & repairs to vestibule
is therefore $5360 to which $250 or at any rate no more than
$300 must be added for grading & sodding over arch and above rear of tomb.

Respectfully
J.W. Lovering
