Tho.s E. Chamberlin Esq

Dear Sir

In reference to the charge
for plants, the gardener to whom you gave the order says
he understood he was to put in as many plants
as necessary to make the lot look done, at $150 per
dozen (the usual price), and this agrees with the
written note on file here. He says that certain
shrubs were taken out of the borders making more
room for plants than heretofore, and that 9 dozen
plants were put in, of various varieties.

He followed your instructions as he understood
them, and on account of the number of plants you
were charged less than the price specified in the order.

If there is any mistake the Treasurer will make
you such correction on the bill as you consider fair,
if you will send this note with the bill to him, when
you are ready to pay it.

Yrs very truly
J.W. Lovering
