Dear Sir
Your note received. I think you
have done sufficient work in Mt Auburn to know
that our rule is that foundations must go to the
bottom of the grave. There have been so many
cases of caving that a foundation that does not
go so deep is of no practical use. If you had left
the root of those stones as deep as the foundations should
be there would have been no trouble. Knowing our
rules as to foundations it seems to me you could have
included that in you estimate or if you had any
doubt about it you could have asked the cost before hand
as stonecutters repeatedly do.
