Mrs. Mary P. Barnes, Boston.

Dear Madam:-

In regard to the foundation about which you called I find that it was sodded and the sod is now growing where the foundation does not project beyond the base of the headstones. The foundation was ordered too large for the base and of course the sod will not grow over it. The remedy is to remove that part of the foundation not needed, fill in with loam and sod it, which will cost $2.00

Respectfully yours, Supt.

Dear Sir:-

The broken fence on your lot will be removed for the old material as before stated, but a charge of $1.00 a post will be made for each post over four not removed.

F. A. Whitwell, Esq., Boston.

Dear Sir: -

A brick wall about seventeen feet long across the back of your lot, to be placed entirely on your own land, said wall to be two feet wide and seven feet high, laid in Portland cement on a broken stone foundation one foot deep also laid in Portland cement, the whole to be covered with a cap stone of granite 1 foot thick which is to be furnished by you, will cost including the necessary excavation and repair to the sod and painting the fence one coat when the wall is completed, two hundred and five dollars ($205.00).

The piers as proposed have not been included because they will only add to the expense and will not add to the strength of the wall.

Whatever plan may be adopted it will be difficult to keep the cap stone in place on account of frost, but a cap stone as thin as you propose will not remain in position but a short time and will require constant repairs.

Respectfully yours,
