Dear Sir,

I am in receipt of a Bill -- sent by the -- Treasurer Mr Mackintosh, which prompts -- my -- addressing to you thisnote, as an afformation. As I had previously -- received the same Bill. I called upon you

[indecipherable] As ground and Ornamental -- protection I cannot tell you how sad it made me feel -- but they are gone -- like many other dear [?] that can never be replaced.

Mr Lovering if you [feel?] like replying -- to this note with the items, I will endeavor to have the Bill promptly paid. As I do not like back Bills.

At Cambridge, (as I wished to [consult? consort?] with [frm. ?], with regard to the [Loss? Lot?],) but not finding [frm?] at Firm Office -, and expecting to be soon again in Boston, I defered sending _ Assessment. Some time previous to this, we received a notification, [inquiring?] if we desired _ to have the Iron Fence Removed the iron [similar to ?] the Curse of Job, _ We decided to have it removed, which was done, -(there is no mention made of the iron on the Bill.) At the same time -- they removed without orders, or our Consent, our "Magnolia Tree," and Weeping Ash, which were placed there with our Loved Ones, when mere shrubs. I was -very sorry to find them gone-, they were sacred to me. [?] --
