Hovey, Charles M.

American nurseryman, seed merchant, journalist and author of horticultural books and was editor of the Magazine of Horticulture. He was responsible for producing the Hovey Strawberry, which was regarded as the foundation of the New England strawberry industry. Member of the [[Massachusetts Horticultural Society]] Charles and his brother [[Hovey, Phineas B., Jr.|Phineas<!--Hovey-->]] started [[Hovey & Co.]], a seed store and nursery in Cambridge, eventually growing to 40 acres. [[Lot 4205]]. Son of [[Hovey, Phineas B.|Phineas B. Hovey]].
