al-Sultan al-hajj Muhammad [?] Badr al-Din Tarikh adlaw Arba'a Waktu Zaman Diwasa Lisag Upat Ing Jam Kawhaan tagshiyam [=tagsiyam] ing Kiyasubangan sing bulan Rajab jimatu ha tahun ha' hangibu tagtunggatus katahun dayn hahajarat al-nabawyiyyat 'ala Sahibiha afdal al-Salat wa azka salam na masa iyanna ing Padukka Maha Sarri Maulana Sultan Maha [m-h-a error?] imanughara chap palaum lima sing Ingris ini hi Tuan Haynes ing ngan niya yari miyaid mari pakapupuan katan-katan subangan sadlupan dayn ha Basilan sampay pa Tawi-Tawi sasuku sing timaar lak paSug miyaid mari magsap tipay na iban chumukay [=sumukay?] sing tau magsasap bang awn tau magsasap gajihan nya katan-katan bang kalu awn manga daakan niya na tulunga niyu kaku ampa ing sakaliyan kamu na tumabang katan kaniya abang awn manga tau mabaya mawn kaniya ayaw niyu saggaa iban bang kalu-kalu awn manga kasaan niya kaniyu na ayaw niyu hinanga. kamuna manga maas-maas duun hakaratungan niya yan ing harap sing Sultan kimita sing ngi dayaw niya iban sing mamalihara kaniya salugay niya hapag Panaw-panawan iban hambuuk wakil niya ganti sing baran niya Ingris ampa ing lugay niya hangkatahun-hangkatahun gantian. Tammatul kalam.

[On this?] date, the day Wednesday, at this time, 4 o'clock, the 29th day of the month of Rajab, it happened in the year ha' 1300 of the Prophetic migration, with his Companions, the best of prayers and the rememberance of peace [upon them], so this is Padukka Maha Sarri Maulana Sultan Maha bestows into the hands of this Englishman, his names is Mr Haynes, who came and asked permission to go to the many islands [from] east to west, Basilan up to Tawi-Tawi, all those under the jurisdiction of Sulu, asks permission to dive for pearls here, and to pay those people who will dive, if there are any divers, he will pay all of them a wage, if he has any requests, please assist him for me, then all of you should help him, if there are people who want to go to him, do not oppose them, and if he happens to commit any errors or mistakes, then do not retaliate. You who are the elders there, who receive him, [are] responsible for him on behalf of the Sultan, to see the bad and the good [in him], to look after him, during the duration of his journey, and one of his [=Haynes] representatives on his behalf, also an Englishman, and the duration [of this letter/contract] will be renewed each year.
