Dear Mrs. Rolvaag, --

I have for some weeks seriously
wanted to answer your kind letter. It
was very considerate of you to assume
the kind attitude you did. And I am
resolved to pay what I owe you
as soon as I possibly can. And I sin-
cerely believe that you will not have
to wait so long from now on.

Your tabulation of what I have
paid and am owing agrees with
my figures almost to a cent. I had
the principal down to $189.00 some
years ago. I have not paid its interest
for the two years previous to the
summer 1841. At $13.00 a year
that interest would amount to $26.00.
Adding the $26.00 to $189.00 would
amount to $215.00, or twelve cents
more than your figures indicated, namely
$214.88.
