Dr. Theodore C. Blegen Minnesota Historical Society St. Paul, Minnesota
My dear Mr. Blegen:
I enclose a letter from Editor S. C. Hammer, Oslo, Norway, the man whom Sir Karl has engaged to work for us. I suggest that you study the letter and then take the contents up with your Editorial Board. I feel that from now on your Board should direct Mr. Hammer's studies. As soon as I get the rest of the material mentioned in his letter, I shall forward it to you. Kindly return the letter.
Mr. Ristad just wrote me that you want a summary of all reports of our last annual meeting, and he suggests that I prepare the same. In case you so wish, I shall be glad to do so. I have written Ristad, asking him to summarize his report, as it is, to my notion, a little too long and I suppose we will have to save on space. Your report, however, should go in "in toto". I shall also prepare a brief report as Secretary of the meeting.
We are receiving quite a few books and other publications. I feel that we ought to list them in our next volume of "Studies and Records". Kindly let me know what you think of the idea.
With kindest regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
O. E. Rölvaag

Prof. O. E. Rölvaag St. Olaf College Northfield, Minnesota
Dear Prof. Rölvaag:--
We shall of course have to correlate Mr. Hammer's work with the surveys made by Mr. Malmin for the Carnegie Institution at Washington. I shall study the problem and consult the other members of the Board in the near future, then work out a program for Mr. Hammer. Perhaps you might drop him a line to that effect.
With reference to other matters in your letter, I shall write you again in a day or two.
Sincerely yours
Theodore C. Blegen
